Vivid Care had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Elizabeth Rumbol recently, and we were able to provide her with a brand new Lento Care Chair to keep her nice and comfortable, whilst also helping her to get out of her room and be with friends in the care home.
Elizabeth Rumbol is 87 years old and lives in a care home in Kent. Unfortunately, due to lack of seating options in the home, she was confined to her room for long periods of time. The care home had one Lento Care Chair already, but this was only available to her once every three weeks.
Being unable to get around the care home and meet the other residents and staff was making her very lonely, she was stuck in her room all the time and it was 4 years since she had even been outside! Additionally, it had been a very long time since she had been able to enjoy a nice warm bath, and she jut lacked a comfortable chair of her own for her to be able to relax and recline in, whilst having all of the pressure care and postural support we know an elderly lady needs.
This was all having a severe impact on Elizabeth’s mental health and well-being.
When Elizabeth’s daughter saw the existing Lento chair in another room of the care home, she knew this was what her Mum needed to get her quality of life back. She straight away asked the care home for a recommendation on the best seating companies to reach out to, and Vivid Care were top of the list!
Before she got in touch with us she was worried there would be a long lead time for the chair, but was relieved to hear we could deliver one straight away!
We had a helpful discussion with Elizabeth’s daughter about her Mum’s condition, and decided what chair she needed, which was a full-sized Lento Care Chair, to keep her safe and secure, with manual action that the carers could operate.

Elizabeth’s new Lento Care Chair revolutionised her quality of life. She could be wheeled in and out of her room to interact socially with the other residents, and get outside into the garden and feel the warm breeze on her face for the first time in 4 years!
As well as massively improving her mood and wellbeing, her posture has improved too as she is now able to raise her legs with the articulating leg-rest. Her physical health has improved to the extent they are now considering a bath hoist, so she can enjoy having a bath again!
