We first met Jennifer at a Motability event in Harrogate where she was looking at electric wheelchairs. She already had her own powerchair, but it was built for convenience and not for comfort.
Her original chair was a compact model, but she was struggling to get in and out of it because of the low seat height. Our mobility specialist John talked with Jennifer about what she needed to help her stay comfortable and supported whilst she was making the most of her mobility.
John said:
“Jennifer’s old chair was built for convenience rather than support and I could see that it was really affecting her quality of life and her independence.”
“I’m very happy to hear that the powerchair we’ve supplied her with is making all the difference! I think the chair has really transformed her life at work and allowed her to carry out her job without discomfort, which is exactly what she wanted.”
Jennifer works as a reception in a University, so one key feature that was needed in her new chair was the ability to raise her seat vertically so she could easily talk to people at the front desk. John showed a few different models to Jennifer, but she settled on the Salsa M2 Mini electric wheelchair.
Jennifer’s new powerchair now fits her body and her needs better than ever before so she can remain as independent as possible in comfort. With the Salsa M2 Mini giving her better support than her previous chair, Jennifer will be able to stay in it for longer and truly make the most of it.
Jennifer was able to buy her chair thanks to a grant from the Access to Work scheme and some additional funding from the Salford Wheelchair Service.
